Kremlin: US sanctions may complicate N Stream-2 implementation

MOSCOW, Dec 24 (PRIME) -- The U.S. new sanctions against Russia-led Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project may complicate its implementation, but Moscow and its European partners are interested in completing it, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

“Of course, these restrictions, which the Americans have already adopted, which they have planned in the draft defense budget, of course, these restrictions are aimed at making it as difficult as possible to implement this project, which is so necessary for Europe in terms of European energy security. Of course, it can complicate it,” Peskov said.

Reuters reported late on Wednesday that the U.S. is preparing wider sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 project in coming weeks.
